Arts Wayland Presents: Planting Seeds, an eclectic member art exhibit at the Goodnow Library in Sudbury on view from May 3 to May 30. Please join us for the free reception on Thursday, May 9th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. For this exhibit, we invited all 2D artists, who are members of Arts Wayland, to submit works that that express their perceptions, memories, emotions, and interpretations of springtime. Works from 10+ artists expressing their ideas and emotions using a wide variety of media will be displayed in the Community Room and the adjacent hallway. MXLR: Music Exchange Listening Room
MXLR: Music Exchange Listening Room – Arts Wayland
Arts Wayland and the Wayland Free Public Library are excited to announce the return of the Music Exchange Listening Room open mic, hosted by Steve Robb. Attendees will settle in to the comfortable seating of the library’s ornate Round Room to perform and enjoy lightly amplified music in a true listening environment. Refreshments will be available. The library will be open all day and we encourage coming early to check out what the library has to offer, get a good seat, and to sign up for a 2-3 song performance slot. No charge to attend or participate.The Music Exchange Listening Room will repeat on the second Tuesday of each month.

Portraiture Demo Workshop – Arts Wayland
Kim Gorassi will demonstrate from a live model to explain the step-by-step process of painting a portrait from life. Using a limited palette, she will discuss placement, proportion, color-values and edgework to create the model’s likeness.

We aren’t going to learn how to paint or try complex techniques but observe how the paint lives and reacts on the fabric, directing it wherever our imagination wants the paint to go. During this master class, you will tap into your creativity and grow your unique Flower, a symbol of feminine beauty and divine blessing.
Storytelling Workshop
Storytelling Masterclass with Catherine Weber – September 2024 – Arts Wayland
This two-hour storytelling masterclass includes how to tell a story, where to get story ideas, and what to consider when telling a story. This event has some participant interaction including Q and A, as well as a handout of all that is covered in the class.
Watercolor and Oil Pastel Workshop
Painting with Watercolor and Oil Pastel – Summer 2024 – Arts Wayland
The class will be held in a studio setting and will focus on fundamental skills, such as observation, perspective, scale, and techniques. Sketching will be an integral part of the exercise. Oil pastels provide a versatile medium for painting with bright colors. They also allow ‘scratching’ with a sharp object to provide interesting effects. Various subjects, including still-life, floral, and portrait will be included in the exercises. This will be an eight-week session, and success with watercolor and oil pastels, considered difficult mediums, will be all but guaranteed.
