Doug Leard has resigned from the Board of Selectmen following his disclosure of his July 31 “surgical and post-surgical events” effective immediately.
Leards’ letter, dated October 29, 2013 read:

After last evenings public disclosure of my July 31, 2013 surgical and post-surgical events I have made the decision to submit my letter of resignation as a member of the Board of Selectmen, to become effective immediately.
