Dancing with Mr. and Mr. Lincoln
As part of Wayland’s 375th celebration there will be a Civil War Period Dance
Saturday, February 1st 2-4pm at Sandy Burr Country Club
Suggested donation: $10
Light refreshments will be served
The year was 1865 and the Civil War was raging on yet the citizens found solace in social dancing. The dances such as the Grand March and Soldier’s Joy were created to reflect the mood of the times.
No previous experience necessary, feel free to wear period clothes – no hoop skirt? No problem, just wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The dances will be taught by Wayland resident and historical dance enthusiast, Ruth Levin. Dancers of all ages are invited!
