HOLIDAY HOURS
The library will be closed on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11. Over Thanksgiving the library will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26. We will be closed all day Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28.

PERSPECTIVES ON CREATING A BETTER ENERGY FUTURE
On December 2, at 7:30 p.m. Phil Giudice will discuss energy challenges and opportunities, including why our consumption choices matter, current and future innovations, and transformative opportunities. Giudice is currently the CEO of Ambri, a startup commercializing a new battery technology invented at MIT. He served as Massachusetts Undersecretary of Energy and Commissioner of the Department of Energy Resources during Governor Patrick’s first term. Trained as a geologist, he has also been an energy executive and a management consultant. He started his career as an exploration geologist.

DROP-IN CRAFT DATES
Children ages 4 and up are invited to make holiday crafts in the Raytheon Room with librarian Elise Katz on Wednesday afternoon, December 17, from 3-5 p.m. and also during the Town Center Holiday Open house on Sunday, December 7, from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

PARENT/CHILD BOOK GROUP
On Wednesday, December 10, from 7-8 p.m. the Parent/Child Book Group will talk about “Sing a Song of Tuna Fish” by Esme Codell. Each month we discuss a different book, chosen by the group. This is a group for children in fourth and fifth grade with a parent and is led by Youth Services Librarian Pam McCuen. This month we will meet in the Raytheon Room. MISFIT SOCK HOLIDAY STORY AND CRAFT
On Wednesday afternoon, December 10, from 3-5 p.m., local author Karen Kiefer will talk about her picture book, “The Misfit Sock,” and teach children how to make Olaf puppets out of misfit socks. Materials will be supplied, but children might want to wear “misfit” socks to get in the spirit! Kiefer will also talk briefly about the misfit sock program she founded, which encourages children to accept people for who they are, accept differences, and avoid bullying behaviors. Co-run with the WCPA. All are welcome. For ages 3 and up. Location: Raytheon Room

SING-ALONG WITH JEANNIE MACK
This year Jeannie will be coming to the library each month to perform all kinds of fun, bounce-around, sing-along songs geared for young children. Audience participation encouraged! For babies, toddlers, and preschoolers with caregiver. The next monthly Sing-Along will be Thursday, December 4, at 10:30 a.m.

LEGO CLUB
Kids ages 5 and up can have some Lego fun in the library’s Raytheon Room on Wednesday, December 3, from 3-4 p.m. This month’s theme is “outer space.”

NEEDLEWORK/HANDWORK GROUP
Our Needlework/Handwork group, facilitated by Ann Moses, meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m.–12 noon in the Raytheon Room. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 3. Check out the neat stuff members of this group have created in our lower level exhibit case.

NOVEMBER EXHIBITS
During November, Murray and Gertrude Drobnis are exhibiting their photography in the foyer. The Raytheon Room contains photographs by the Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers. The downstairs exhibit case contains a work by our monthly needlework group run by Ann Moses.

POETRY WORKSHOP WITH A.M. JUSTER
Poet A. M. Juster of Belmont will be the instructor at this year’s Poetry Workshop on Thursday December 4, from 2-4 p.m. “Mike” Juster has written several books of poetry, both collections and translations. NAVIGATING THE ELDER YEARS
On Monday, December 8, from 7-8:30 p.m. a team of specialists will present a panel discussion on Navigating the Elder Years that will be of interest to both people at that stage of life and their family members.
