EDC is proposing planning for and pre-permitting senior rental housing at the Route 20 Septage/DPW site along the Sudbury River. 25% of the units would be planned to be affordable, and so that as a rental project, fully 100% of the units would count toward Wayland’s 10% affordability threshold. The site would be pre-planned with size and design requirements so that Wayland will control what the project will look like, and then would be put out to bid to private developers to create the highest value for the Town of Wayland in terms of land value and perpetual tax revenues. For an overview of the project, see Town Crier article: “Wayland’s Diamond in the Rough”
In order to accommodate everyone’s schedules as best we can, we are moving the EDC Warrant Article Public Meeting / Q&A Session to a 6:30 start. The goal will be to be complete by 7:30 (of course we’ll stick around if there are any additional questions) so that people still have enough time to join the Open House and tour the new High School afterward. And just in case any attendees don’t hear of the time change, they can catch up mid-stream or after.
Why senior housing? What are the benefits to the Town of Wayland? What will it look like? What are the impacts? How would the process work? What funds are being requested? Are CPA funds being proposed to be used? If you have questions or comments, please join us for a public meeting to discuss the content of the warrant article, and how the process would work if the Town were to approve the warrant article.
