Wayland Town Crier 11/1/13: Wayland produce served in school cafeterias. Until last week, summertime produce from Claypit Hill, the Middle School gardens and Happy Hollow (peas, tomatoes, peppers, greens, squash and beans) was combined with First Parish’s Pantry Garden and donated to Parmenter or to family shelters in Framingham.
Last week, Food Services Director Cheryl Judd and the Board of Health gave the OK to have this very “local” food from school gardens served to all students, not just those in after-school programs. This recent development came just in time for the National Schools’ Food Day on Oct. 24.
