NON-FICTION BOOK GROUP There’s a lot of great non-fiction these days, and we’re starting a group to talk about it. Led by our own Nancy McMenemy-McColm, the first meeting is on Monday, June 16, 7-9 p.m. and the first title is Edward Slingerland’s “Trying Not to Try: The Art and Science of Spontaneity.”

Appearance by Ted Reinstein from TV’s “Chronicle” On Tuesday, June 17, at 7 p.m., journalist Ted Reinstein will be at the library to talk about his book, “New England Notebook: One Reporter, Six States, Uncommon Stories,” a collection of memorable and favorite stories drawn from over fifteen years of reporting from every corner of New England.

They will read from and sign copies of their book, “One Door Closes: Overcoming Adversity by Following Your Dreams.” The book captures the stories of 16 people from all walks of life who triumphed over seemingly insurmountable obstacles to achieve their goals.

JUNE EXHIBITS During June the library foyer contains an exhibit of recent photos by Ruth and George Brawerman, entitled “New England and Florida Images.” Natick resident John Kirk Smith displays his artwork this month in the Raytheon Room.

POETRY WORKSHOP The next meeting of the Poetry Workshop will be June 19. The Workshop meets in the Raytheon Room of the Library, with some exceptions, on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from September through June, from 2-4 p.m. Its purpose is to assist those present to write better poetry in a most collegial setting. The members read each other’s poems and respond with suggestions and encouragement. Through this process, each poet learns from the others. The Workshop has been in existence for about 25 years. All poets at any level of experience are welcome to join the group. For more information, contact Joan Kimball at 978-318-0991.
