Ferns of Wayland with Wayland Walks

Join Wayland Walks and fern expert Dan Lubin for an exploration of the ferns of Wayland on Saturday, June 21, from 2-4 PM. Meet in the parking lot at Alpine Field, Alpine Road for a walk through Trout Brook and Castle Hill Conservation Areas. There are 52 fern species native to Massachusetts. Come and see some of the more common ones and learn how to identify them. Wear long pants and you are welcome to bring a fern frond to have identified. Maybe we’ll see a club-moss or a horsetail as well. Don Lubin has been leading field trips and workshops for the New England Wild Flower Society and others since 1998. He grows dozens of fern species in his city garden and locates rare plants for herbaria. His website is http://nefern.info. Suggested donation: $10-15.
