Join Wayland’s Community Emergency Response Team

The Wayland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be conducting a 10 week training course starting Monday, September 15, 2014, from 7PM to 9PM. Classes will be held Monday evenings and will include sessions on disaster preparedness, fire safety, CPR, first aid, light search and rescue, and more. The course utilizes classroom instruction and hands-on exercises led by members of the Wayland Fire and Police Departments as well as CERT team members.

CERT is responsible for operating the town’s emergency shelter at the Wayland Middle School in the event of a disaster caused by blizzards, hurricanes, floods, or other situations that force people to leave their homes. CERT operates under the direction of the town’s Emergency Management Director and the Local Emergency Planning Committee.

Become a trained CERT volunteer and learn how to help your family and community plan, prepare for, and mitigate the effects of emergencies.

If you are interested in attending CERT training, or would like more information about CERT, please contact Joe Gordon, Wayland CERT Coordinator at gordon@waylandcert.org or at 617-630-0010.
