The Wayland Clergy Association, Transition Wayland, and Wayland Walks are again sponsoring Walk-to-Worship during October. During the entire month of October, Wayland houses of worship are encouraging members of their communities to walk to their church, synagogue, mosque, or other place of worship, to walk to their neighbor’s house and carpool, or to ride their bicycles to either their neighbor’s house or their house of worship.
Walk to Worship is part of Transition Wayland and Wayland Walks, which began as a Wayland 375 project to assist in the creation of a master map of all the trails in Wayland. Wayland Walks is also part of Transition Wayland’s focus on community and its efforts to encourage people to transition toward a more resilient community. Transition is about neighbors helping neighbors move beyond fossil fuels and build a sustainable, resilient local economy and community in the face of peak oil and climate change.
