The library will be closed on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11. Over Thanksgiving the library will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26. We will be closed all day Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28.
ACUPUNCTURE FOR YOUR PETS
Dr. Flavia Zorgniotti will describe veterinary acupuncture: what it is, the similarities and differences from human acupuncture, and how it is used. She will also discuss some of the more common ailments it can treat and answer audience questions. Dr. Zorgniotti is a veterinarian at the Phoenix Veterinary Hospital of Wayland. She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Veterinary Food Therapy. Tuesday, November 18, 7 p.m.
BOOK BUDDIES
Book Buddies is for kids in grades K-2 with a parent/caregiver. This month’s book is “Pinch and Dash Make Soup” by Michael Daley. PARENT/CHILD BOOK GROUP
On Wednesday, December 10, from 7-8 p.m. the Parent/Child Book Group will talk about “Sing a Song of Tuna Fish” by Esme Codell. For children in fourth and fifth grade, with a parent. Each month we discuss a different book, chosen by the group. Led by Youth Services Librarian Pam McCuen. This month we will meet in the Raytheon Room. MISFIT SOCK HOLIDAY STORY AND CRAFT
On Wednesday afternoon, December 10, from 3-5 p.m., local author Karen Kiefer will talk about her picture book, “
The Misfit Sock,” and teach children how to make Olaf puppets out of misfit socks. Materials will be supplied, but children might want to wear “misfit” socks to get in the spirit! Kiefer will also talk briefly about the misfit sock program she founded, which encourages children to accept people for who they are, accept differences, and avoid bullying behaviors. Co-run with the WCPA. All are welcome. For ages 3 and up. Location: Raytheon Room

Zumba Kids, Jr., is a rhythm and dance program for children ages 2.5 to 4 years of age, led by Julia Walderzak of H2K Happy Health Kids Fitness Studio. Join Julia in the library’s Raytheon Room on Tuesday, November 25, at 10:30 a.m.

Our Needlework/Handwork group, facilitated by Ann Moses, meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m.–12 noon in the Raytheon Room. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 3. Check out the neat stuff members of this group have created in our lower level exhibit case.
NOVEMBER EXHIBITS
During November, we welcome back Murray and Gertrude Drobnis for their nineteenth year exhibiting their photography in the library’s foyer. This month the Raytheon Room contains an exhibit of photographs presented by the Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers. The downstairs exhibit case contains a wonderful variety of work by members of our monthly needlework group run by Ann Moses.
PERSPECTIVES ON CREATING A BETTER ENERGY FUTURE
On December 2, at 7:30 p.m. Phil Giudice will discuss energy challenges and opportunities, including why our consumption choices matter, current and future innovations, and transformative opportunities. Giudice is currently the CEO of Ambri, a startup commercializing a new battery technology invented at MIT. He served as Massachusetts Undersecretary of Energy and Commissioner of the Department of Energy Resources during Governor Patrick’s first term. Trained as a geologist, he has also been an energy executive and a management consultant. He started his career as an exploration geologist.
