And he sees a symbiosis between the two that he thinks can benefit students in public schools both here and elsewhere. “We make big distinctions between people who are good at math and people who are good at writing,” he said. “But, in my personal experience, I don’t think there’s necessarily such a divide.” Treese recently proposed to the Wayland School Committee that they consider incorporating some writing assignments into the math curriculum.
