Local Ebola survivor addresses congregation

Wayland Town Crier 12/15/14: Local Ebola survivor addresses congregation. Growing up in Wayland, Dr. Rick Sacra would hear stories from missionaries at the Trinitarian Congregational Church about their work abroad. Those stories inspired Sacra, now 51, to become a family physician and serve as a medical missionary in Liberia for nearly 20 years. But his service came with a price. After a long day of work on Aug. 29, Sacra started feeling feverish and had a temperature of 100.8 degrees. The fever stayed through the weekend, and three days later, Sacra was diagnosed with Ebola, a deadly infection that has spread through much of West Africa this year and killed thousands.
