The Wayland Police Department is in the process of investigating several cases of vandalism that occurred in town this past week. Graffiti, written in black, blue and/or brown spray paint has been found on a residence, a construction trailer and a mausoleum located at the Lakeview Cemetery. The residence and the construction trailer are located on Millbrook Road and Michael Road.
The most significant damage occurred at the Lakeview Cemetery. A granite mausoleum that was erected more than one hundred years ago as the Dean family burial vault was spray painted with blue spray paint. Also at the cemetery, there was spray paint on the maintenance shed and a pentagram was made on the ground with the same blue spray paint. A contractor has been secured to remove the paint by the Department of Public Works.
Police ask anyone who may live in the vicinity of Lakeview Cemetery to report any suspicious activity or persons they may see entering the cemetery, especially at night.
