Grades 2 – 5 students are invited to “Let It Grow” in the after-school Gardening class starting on Friday, May 29, 2015, and continuing for 4 weeks until June 19, 2015. Dates are May 29, June 5, 12, and 19, and the time is 3 pm – 4:30 pm, rain or shine.
The $80 fee includes materials, including a take-home pizza garden. Grade Two Teacher Ms. Deane Coady and Molly Faulkner of Wayland’s Green Team and Mass Ag in the Classroom are leading the gardening class, which has been successful at Claypit Hill School in recent years.
Children will learn how to grow flowers and vegetables in the school’s raised bed gardens and at home. Rainy day topics will include pollination and learning about edible plant parts such as leaves, stems, roots, and seeds. Children will make a take-home pizza garden.
