A new fundraising opportunity to support the Wayland PTO has arrived at each Wayland school and at the Transfer Station. The Wayland PTO Green Team has partnered with Bay State Textile to provide donation boxes for textiles in “good, bad and ugly” condition. In addition to gently used clothing, these bins will also accept items that others do not including stuffed animals, highly worn or stained clothing, and even a single shoe! The only requirement is that they are clean and dry.
Over 520 MILLION pounds of textiles are disposed of at incinerators or landfills in Massachusetts, of which 95% can be reused or recycled. Bay State Textiles reuses 45% of the textiles here in the U.S. and overseas and the rest is recycled or reprocessed. This is considerably higher than with many other donation bins.
The average American discards 70 pounds of textiles a year. In Wayland that equates to 455 tons. Turn your unwanted clothing, backpacks, shoes and linens into revenue for the Wayland PTO. Thank you.
