Transportation is an often ignored contributor to climate change. On Thursday, Jan. 7 7-9pm at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 107 Concord Road in Wayland, the Metrowest node of 350 Massachusetts will invite Jack Spence to discuss the role transportation plays in greenhouse gas emissions, the effects of different modes of transportation in Massachusetts and the U.S., and what other countries and communities have done about it. Light refreshments will be served.
Spence has been active in the Cambridge node and the state 350 Massachusetts on transportation solutions for several years. Prior to that he performed field research on biofuels and deforestation in Brazil, Indonesia and Iowa. His career in political science at UMass Boston focused on revolution, war and peace, and democratization, first in Chile and then Central America.
The 350 Massachusetts Metrowest node is a gathering of those who want to learn more about the causes of and remedies for climate change, as well as having the option to support divesting from fossil fuel equities, carbon pollution pricing, and support for renewable energy resources and infrastructure.
All are encouraged to sit in on subgroup meetings for the initiatives as well as the steering group that meets at different times.
