Woman arrested for passing counterfeit currency at Rite-Aid in Wayland

In April 2014, the Wayland Police Department took a report from Rite-Aid Pharmacy located at 35 Main Street that they had received counterfeit currency during a transaction. The United States Secret Service began an investigation into the counterfeit currency as well.

During this investigation, forensic evidence and video surveillance images were utilized to identify Erica L. Rivera of Springfield, Massachusetts as the individual who passed the counterfeit bills.

Subsequently, the Wayland Police Department obtained an arrest warrant from Framingham District Court on Thursday, January 14, 2016, for Erica L. Rivera of Springfield, Massachusetts, charging her with Uttering a counterfeit note, Possessing a counterfeit note and Larceny over $250 by single scheme.

On Monday, January 18, 2016, Rivera was arrested in Springfield, Massachusetts.
