Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT) is offering a number of guided bird walks for both new and experienced bird watchers. On Tuesday, May 10, visit Mainstone Farm in Wayland for a Morning Bird Walk at 7:00 am. Andy Magee leads this special opportunity to visit this iconic landscape that is not yet open to the public. On Saturday, May 14, at 7:00 am, explore the grounds of Longfellow’s Wayside Inn in Sudbury with Ron McAdow, who will help identify the birds that live around this historic landscape. This event is part of Freedom’s Way Heritage Association’s “Hidden Treasures 2016,” a free celebration showcasing the natural, cultural and historic “treasures” of our region. On Thursday, May 19, at 7:15 pm, SVT Director of Stewardship Laura Mattei will lead an evening Whip-Poor-Will Walk at Memorial Forest and the Desert Natural Area in Sudbury. These rare birds are more likely to be heard with the light of the full moon. On May 21 at 10:00 am, SVT will visit the great blue heron rookery at Lyons-Cutler Reservation and Landham Brook Marsh in Sudbury during fledgling season. Registration is required for all programs and space is limited. For more information and to register, please visit www.svtweb.org/calendar or call 978-443-5588 X123. SVT and nearly 3000 members protect and care for land and wildlife habitat in 36 communities surrounding the Concord, Assabet, and Sudbury Rivers.
