An elderly man who suffered serious injuries after his car slammed into a tree Friday morning died after being flown to a Boston hospital, police said. Chief Robert Irving told the MetroWest Daily News that the 84-year-old Wayland man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital after being taken there by Lifeflight helicopter.
