The public is invited to a very special Girl Scout Court of Awards Celebration at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 26th at St. Zepherin’s in Wayland. Four young woman from Wayland and one from Weston, will receive their Gold Award and certificates from Girl Scouts USA. The Gold Award is the highest honor in Girl Scouting, a culmination of years of preparation and service to their communities. The recipients from Wayland are Elodie Carel, whose diaper project is helping families in need in Framingham; Sophia Alexandra Gloria Estrada who has focused her efforts on education and preservation of the Blue Heron Stewardship Forest; Megan Kistner whose project addressed nutrition and health education in young, at risk children from Boston and Amanda Mae Judah, who created toolkits for 3rd graders in Wayland and Waltham that profile historical women who have made significant contributions in our local area. From Weston, Alisha Ukani developed a 2-day program called CodHer, a Camp for women of high school age and older to learn the basics of web development. These remarkable young woman will describe their programs in greater detail at the ceremony. This event is free and open to the public.
