Wayland Town Crier 6/13/16: Wayland helpers deliver a difference for Meals on Wheels. very weekday around 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Town Building, it looks like there might be something strange going down. Several cars converge at odd angles. Drivers open their trunks, mysterious black bags are passed from hand to hand, people huddle together looking at lists and conferring quickly. Then suddenly everyone leaves.
What’s going on?
It’s the regular ritual that precedes the delivery of Meals on Wheels to about two dozen Wayland residents Monday through Friday. Two or three volunteers meet to receive both hot and cold food packed in insulated bags, and head out to bring nutrition and neighborliness to folks who can’t easily get out or cook for themselves.
