Wayland Town Crier 9/9/16: Wayland Fire aims to keep seniors safe. Last year, Wayland firefighters responded to 189 smoke detector activations and 52 carbon monoxide calls. It’s hard to say how many lives or how much property was saved, but it’s fair to say that, if a fire was prevented before it could cause a single death, a minor injury, or even a trivial property loss, the devices proved their worth. Too often, however, residents – especially older ones – neglect to install smoke and/or CO detectors or don’t keep them up to date.
