Wayland Town Crier 5/3/14: Amazing historical find at Wayland High School. Lt. Col. Martin W. Joyce was born over 100 years ago, fought in both world wars, worked as a Massachusetts state trooper during the Roaring ’20s, was on military active duty in Hawaii for Pearl Harbor, and was appointed commanding officer of the Nazi concentration camp Dachau days after its liberation. He never lived in Wayland, though, so why do the students of four Wayland High School history classes feel so connected to the man?
