Help support Wayland’s school gardens

The Wayland Schools PTO Green Team (teachers, parents, students) will at Russell’s Wednesday Farmer’s Market on Wednesday, August 6 with exhibits on their successful programs on composting cafeteria food scraps and school gardens.

On exhibit:

  • Freshly harvested produce from the school gardens for the Parmenter Food Pantry
  • Pictures and plot plan for the new High School garden managed by the Green Thumb Club
  • Composting exhibit
  • Delicious “salad” made from common flowers and weeds
  • Signup sheets for fall volunteers in the cafeteria at Loker, Happy Hollow and Claypit Hill School
  • Other non-school gardens: First Parish’s Pantry Garden and Margie Lee’s garden

On sale to help fund programs:

  • Honey from Kaat Vander Straeten’s hives
  • Herbs from school gardens and teacher’s gardens
  • Flowers from Claypit Hill, Happy Hollow, Loker, Middle and High School gardens
  • Green Team water bottles and snack taxis
