Two open houses are scheduled at The Children’s Way (TCW) in October for families interested in enrolling in the school district’s early childhood program. The open houses will be on Friday, October 23, and Wednesday, October 28, from 8:45 to 10 a.m. Applications are being accepted for the 2016-17 school year.
The open houses will take place in the Selectmen’s Hearing Room in the Wayland Town Building (first floor). The events will include a program overview, a chance to meet Director Katy Merrell, who joined the program on July 1, and a tour of the specially designed classrooms.
Open houses provide an opportunity to learn how early childhood education at The Children’s Way can promote each child’s learning and development. In keeping with TCW’s mission, teachers develop curriculum based on each child’s developmental level and unique learning style.
During the classroom tours, parents can observe teachers and children while they are immersed in daily activities and see how the curriculum is tailored to diverse approaches to learning.
The Children’s Way has five classrooms and enrolls children as young as 2 years old. For children who are 2 years old by September 1, 2016, there is a half-day program from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and an optional “lunch bunch” until 1 p.m. For 3 year olds as of Sept. 1, 2016, half-day enrollment is from 8:30 am to 11:30 am with an optional “lunch bunch” until 1 pm. Full-day program hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with optional extended hours until 4 pm or 5:30 pm. While enrollment must be either half or full day, optional extended hours for full day schedules may be flexible, depending on a family’s needs.
The open houses are informational meetings for adults only. To RSVP call 508-358-7072. To learn more about TCW, visit the website at: http://tcw.wayland.k12.ma.us.
