STEM class doubles at Wayland High

Wayland Town Crier 10/7/16: STEM class doubles at Wayland High. School districts are aligning to new state standards slated to bolster STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) courses across Massachusetts. Adopted earlier this year, the updated requirements place emphasis on teaching children a variety of science subjects at each grade level instead of only one.

After years of preparation, the 2016-2017 school year marks the first time teachers have fully started to put the guidelines to use in their classrooms through new projects and a new approach to STEM education. “We’re doing something that’s much more across the board,” said Wayland Superintendent Paul Stein. “It’s not about one new, little project in a separate classroom.”
